- TENTATIVE - Saturday, April 19th - Costume Ensemble workshop. With one month even until "showtime," this is it! Get expert design / assistance on pulling your costume together for a "complete look" -- just in time for the May 17th Spring Concert. Schedule timeslot with Shelli. Slots available from 12 noon till 4PM. Cost: One class certificate. (Non-members: $54.00).
- Sunday, May 11th, 2-4pm - Mothers and Daughters: Special "Performance Preview". Bring the women of your family -- mother and/or mother-in-law, daughters, sisters, or aunties, for our dress rehearsal for the coming Spring Concert on Saturday, the 17th. Light buffet. (Doors open at 11:30 for dancers doing tech and/or rehearsals.) Tentatively to have a professional photographer on hand for a photo shoot.
- Saturday, May 17th - Spring Concert of Dance; theme to be announced. Alay'nya's private studio, McLean, VA. Doors open at 7PM, performance starts at 8PM.
- Friday(evening), May 23rd - Artemis and Tayyar host their annual FolkTours Middle East Music and Dance Camp. (http://www.folktours.com/campusa.html) This year's dance teachers include Fahtiem and Morocco, both teaching Egyptian-style, Christina King for tribal, and of course, Artemis for Turkish-style dance. Music teachers include an equally impressive line-up, and classes meet all range of interests and skill levels. This is a great get-away for couples and families, as well as for dancers! Teaching is excellent, parties are superb, bathrooms/showers are warm and clean, and food is plentiful. This is an excellent way to "get away from it all" for a few days; the weather is typically just tolerable for camping out at night (tents or unheated cabins), and the music and dance will inspire you for the rest of the summer! I've been to these a couple of times, and definately plan to be at the one this year. If you're planning on going, please let Alay'nya know ASAP, so we can coordinate getting one cabin where we can all stay -- camp organizers do their best to accomodate us, but requests for special arrangements fill up fast!
