An Incredible Candle Dance Performance

The first candle dance that I saw performed was by Eva Cernik, as the finale in an Atlanta workshop that she taught in 1996. It was exquisitely beautiful! The video of that performance is not commercially available, but Eva does have one of her candle dances available on vid: it is on

The story Eva tells is that she did this performance after a lengthy and intensive Sufi workshop (lasting at least a month). By the time that she did this dance, she truly was able to be in an altered state. Please keep that in mind if you watch this vid; Eva does some things that I would never recommend to a novice, or even an experienced dancer. Let your consciousness be your guide. And do watch this for an example of as close as a person growing up in our culture can come to true "fire dancing."
